Traffic calming improvements coming to Washington Avenue
Posted: May 2, 2011 - 3:27pm

The NYC Department of Transportation is planning to add traffic calming improvements to the intersections of Atlantic Avenue and Washington Avenue, and Washington Avenue and Park Place.

At Washington and Atlantic, improvements will include pedestrian refuge islands, neckdowns, expansions to Lowry Triangle Park and the triangle island to its east, as well as a ban on left turns eastbound on Atlantic to Washinton Avenue.

At Park Place and Washington, the southern tip of the existing triangle of Prospect Place, Washington and Grand Avenues will be expanded to add refuge space, and a new safety island will be added south of Park between Washington and Grand.

DOT's presentation on the project is available here.
