Pedestrian improvements coming to Flatbush Avenue
Posted: October 17, 2012 - 4:57pm

Starting this week, NYC DOT will be making short-term improvements on north Flatbush Avenue to provide pedestrian safety benefits in anticipation of an upcoming capital construction project (in 2014) that will expand curb lines and sidewalks. The short-term improvements include:

  • Improving intersections to slow down turning vehicles
  • Painting sidewalk extensions at five Flatbush Avenue intersections including Bergen Street, St. Marks Avenue, Prospect Place, Sterling Place and St. Johns Place
  • Expanding pedestrian space at the Carlton Ave/Park Place intersection
  • Adding plastic bollards to define pedestrian space

An example rendering of one of the planned improvements is shown in the image above.
