Prospect Heights’ biennial house tour will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Organizers expect this year’s house tour to celebrate the designation of Prospect Heights as a New York City landmark district. Landmark designation will prevent the demolition and alteration of the historic homes highlighted by the house tour. Funds raised from the 2007 house tour supported the community outreach necessary to galvanize community support for landmark designation. Incredibly there were no dissenting voices at the New York City Landmarks Commission’s formal hearing on October 28, 2008. This was no small accomplishment!
Producing a successful house tour requires the help of many hands: generous homeowners, house-sitters, graphic designers, photographers, architects, copywriters, ticket sellers, fund raisers, publicists, and general administrators. Every dime raised from the house tour is invested back into the community. Past recipients include: the Brooklyn Public Library’s After School program, the 77th Precinct Community Council Holiday Party, graffiti removal, and protective fencing for our street trees and community gardens.
This year we need your support more than ever. If you'd like to exhibit your home or lend a hand this year please give Bob Biegen a call at (718) 789-2469 or email him at Biegen@aol.com.
