Community Board 8 meets once every month between September and June on the second Thursday of each month at various locations throughout the District. At these meetings, issues of concern to the community are addressed. These meetings are open to the public, where individuals are grantedan opportunity to voice concerns and gather information on issues that are given very little publicity.

Brooklyn Community Board No. 8 represents all of Prospect Heights and parts of Crown Heights, and Weeksville. The district is bounded by Atlantic Avenue (north side, even numbers) to Eastern Parkway (south side, odd numbers) and Ralph Avenue (east side, even numbers) to Flatbush Avenue (west side, odd numbers).
The Community Board participates in land use and zoning issues and works closely with city agencies to ensure that city services and funding address the needs of the community.
The Community Board district office assists residents with housing complaints against landlords, water complaints, and other issues such as rodents, leaky hydrants, malfunctioning street lights and garbage collection.
The District office is also responsible for processing street activity permits for street closings, block parties, street festivals, and clean-ups.
